The Czech progressive scene welcomes the Vrsov duo Méta Monde with their debut. Atmospheric and rhythmic music full of harmonious synthesizers, booming bass lines and intricate lyrics. This is how pianist and composer Jakub Baierl and digital artist and bassist Roman Gordienko describe the result of more than 6 years of friendship and a shared interest in modern indie and the new wave of the 80s.
They first sent the singles Spacetime six and Dying to the world, then on October 16 they shared the debut Méta Mondes. They offer the listeners to leave the world behind, as the opening track World Beyond suggests using the title and dreamy synthesizers, and embark on a journey to those around them.
Through the record, in their words, they reflect the diverse emotions and events they witnessed and experienced. Individual songs lead the listener on their own path, which are at the same time part of a universal space odyssey through worlds painted with bright and radiant cosmic sounds. This is also why some travelers could feel synthwave as one of the many genre inspirations. “The whole album is not just a synthwave concept, but a combination of different ideas across different styles. For other people, they may look similar in terms of genre, but for us, every song from the album is different", the guys add.
Fans of a wide range of genres can find something on the recording, whether it's a hint of new wave, post-punk, synthpop, dreampop, electra or disco. While creating, the pair was inspired by music and culture of the past and present. When listening, one has no idea whether one is in the past, present, future or another world. Sometimes they even meet.
